At Karma Music School, we can help you to achieve your music goals, to grow, and to excel with a positive mindset. Our approach combines over 30 years of music experience, with over two decades of experience training and teaching complex subject matter in industry and academia.

Our method for learning the guitar is similar to the concept of Jeet Kune Do in martial arts. We take a direct and hybrid approach by combining the most useful elements from different learning systems, using what works and casting off what doesn’t work for each individual student. Our goal is for students to be able to understand what they are doing on the fretboard so they can express the music within. We accomplish this by the following:
Students build a foundation based on guitar interval training, a solid understanding of music theory, good fretting hand and picking hand technique, and excellence with timing and rhythm.
Using a personalized and hybrid approach, students learn and apply varied concepts and systems to the guitar fretboard, to enable free navigation and the ability to play more intentionally.
Students study the art of improvisation, musical performance, development of good guitar tone, and the expression of emotion through their instrument.
Our approach is applicable to any genre or style of music, and we help students to set and adjust SMART objectives throughout the course of their guitar journey. In-person lessons are preferred and may be feasible if you reside in the Boston area or surrounding suburbs. Otherwise lessons can be taught remotely.
